Pharmaceutical Latin Pin Yin Dosage Actions
Calculus Bovis Niu Huang 0.15-1g Awakens the Spirit, Clears the Heart, Clears the Liver and relieves Fire toxicity, Opens the Orifices aromatically, Vaporizes Phlegm.
Sm. Crotonis (oil removed) Ba Dou 0.1-0.3g Warmly unblocks, vigorously purges, drives out water, reduces edema and breaks up clogged Phlegm.
With Zhu Sha and Niu Huang, for Phlegm Misting the Orifices.
Cinnabaris Zhu Sha 0.1-2.7g Calms the Spirit, Expels Phlegm, Sedates jitteriness and clears Heat, Sedates the Heart.
Alumen Ming Fan 0.6-1.5g Clears Heat, purges Fire, relieves toxicity and expels Phlegm.
Pulverized Sm. Oryzae Geng Mi 9 to 15g Tonifies the Qi of the Lungs, Spleen and Intestines, stops restlessness, stops thirst and generates fluids.

  • Red, swollen, painful eyes
  • Irascibility with violent angry outbursts

  • Vomiting sour or bitter liquid

  • Restlessness
  • Constipation or dry stools
  • Maybe rib pain
  • In severe cases:
    Mania
    Hemoptysis

Contraindications And Herb/Drug Interactions

CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Use with extreme caution. Vomiting and diarrhea often occur after ingestion.
  • Use Cinnabaris Zhu Sha with extreme caution for those with compromised Liver and Kidney functions. Do not use it in large amounts or for a prolonged period.
