Notes
- The information above refers to Fr. Malvae Dong Kui Guo, which is the main herb supplied as Dong Kui Zi. Sm. Abutili Qing Mai Zi is bitter and neutral and enters the Bladder, Large Intestine and Liver. By clearing Heat and promoting urination, it treats red and white dysenteric disorders and painful urinary dysfunction. It also resolves toxicity, reduces swellings and superficial visual obstruction, and clears the eyes, so it is used for swollen abscesses and superficial visual obstruction. It is used less often.
- Dong Kui Guo and Talcum Hua Shi are both slippery, unblock the orifices, and are used for difficult urination with rasping pain in the urethra. Hua Shi excels at cooling Summerheat and draining Dampness and can be applied topically to Damp-Heat sores, whereas Dong Gui Zi aids bowel movements, promotes lactation and also reduces swelling.
- Generalized dysuria can be treated with this herb used alone.
