Notes

  1. By tonifying Liver Yin and cooling Liver Heat, it benefits the eyes.
  2. It enters the Liver channel at both the Qi and Blood levels. Its sweetness tonifies the Blood and its coldness cools Heat.
  3. It is commonly used for gradual loss of sight, blurred vision and visual obstruction.
  4. Liver Dryness is moistened by this herb.
  5. It can be used as a pillow filling.
  6. Mi Meng Hua and Flos Eriocauli Gu Jing Cao both expel Wind, cool Heat, benefit the eyes and reduce superficial visual obstruction, and they are often combined for eye disorders. Gu Jing Cao is acrid, sweet and cool and enters the Liver and Stomach channels. It is helpful for eye problems as well as for headache and toothache caused by Wind. Mi Meng Hua is sweet and cold and likewise enters the Liver channel. It rises and disperses less strongly than Gu Jing Cao. Its strength lies in cooling Liver Heat, tonifying Liver Blood and moistening Liver Dryness all at once. It can be used for every type of eye problem.
  7. Mi Meng Hua and Hb. Celosiae Qing Xiang Zi both cool the Liver, improve vision and reduce superficial visual obstructions. Mi Meng Hua nourishes Liver Blood so that it tonifies while clearing Heat. Qing Xiang Zi is bitter and cold with a sinking nature, so it suits only Liver Fire and Heat toxin flushing the eyes.
