Yin Deficiency Heat with night sweats and steaming bone sensations. |
Notes
- It is an excellent herb for consumption and for childhood nutritional impairment.
- It is well suited to reaching deep into the Yin level to treat Heat in the muscle layer or steaming bones arising from Deficiency.
- Yin Chai Hu and Rx. Bupleuri Chai Hu both clear Heat but have little else in common. Yin Chai Hu cools and reduces Heat that stems specifically from Deficiency, and it has no raising action. Chai Hu vents and cools exterior Heat, raises, and is outstanding for alternating chills and fever, yet it cannot clear Deficiency Heat or treat childhood nutritional impairment.
- Yin Chai Hu and Hb. Artemisiae Annuae Qing Hao both cool the Blood and relieve steaming bones. Qing Hao is acrid and fragrant, vents warm pathogens out from the Yin level to the Yang level, and is best for Heat at night that cools by morning, caused by a warm pathogen injuring the Ying Level. It also resolves summerheat and treats the alternating chills and fever of malarial disorders. Yin Chai Hu does not clear Heat through venting, but it does treat Heat from childhood nutritional impairment.
- Yin Chai Hu, Hb Artemisiae Annuae Qing Hao, and Rx. Cynanchi Atrati Bai Wei each clear pathogenic Heat. Qing Hao neither cools the Lungs nor promotes urination. Rx. Stellariae Yin Chai Hu does not vent Heat or push Blood Heat outward; it only cools Blood Heat internally.
