Pharmaceutical Latin Pin Yin Dosage Actions
Stir-fried Rx. Angelicae Sinensis Dang Gui 3-15g Tonifies, invigorates and harmonizes the Blood, regulates the menses, reduces swelling, expels pus, generates flesh and alleviates pain.
With Bai Shao, regulates and harmonizes Qi and Blood.
With Xiang Fu, tonifies the Blood and moves Qi, for premenstrual symptoms, menstrual pain and irregular menstruation.
Pollen Typhae Pu Huang 3-12g Stops bleeding by astringing, invigorates the Blood and dispels Blood Stasis.
Rx. Achyranthis Bidentatae Niu Xi 6-16g Invigorates the Blood and expels Blood Stasis.
Rx. Salviae Miltiorrhizae Dan Shen 3-15g Nourishes, invigorates and cools the Blood, dispels Blood Stasis, reduces abscesses and calms the Spirit.
With Dang Gui, for irregular menstruation and retained lochia from Blood Stasis
Rx. Paeoniae Alba Bai Shao 5-30g Nourishes the Blood and regulates menstruation.
With Dang Gui, nourishes Yin and Blood.
Rx. Paeoniae Rubra Chi Shao 4.5-15g

Invigorates the Blood, dispels Blood Stasis, relieves pain, clears Heat and cools the Blood.
With Bai Shao, for spasms and cramping pain associated with Blood Deficiency and Blood Stagnation.
Rz. Cyperi Preparata Zhi Xiang Fu 6-14g Spreads and regulates Liver Qi, regulates menstruation and alleviates pain.
Ophicalcitum Hua Rui Shi 9-15g Stops bleeding, invigorates the Blood and disperses Blood Stasis.
Prepared and carbonized Rx. et Rz. Rhei Da Huang Tan 3-15g Stops bleeding.
Sanguis Draconis Xue Jie 0.3-0.6g Dispels Blood Stasis, Invigorates the Blood, Stops bleeding and alleviates pain.

Clinical Manifestations

  • Pain in the lower abdomen and pelvic region
  • Heavy and/or irregular periods
  • Spotting between periods or before periods
  • Infertility
  • Difficulty conceiving
  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Abdominal swelling
  • Painful bowel movements, especially during menstruation
  • Bleeding from the rectum during menstruation
  • Lower abdominal pain during menstruation
  • Low back pain
  • Painful urination during menstruation
  • Sometimes no symptoms at all
  • Other symptoms may include:
    Headaches
    Low grade fevers
