Notes

  1. This herb is excellent at dispelling Blood Stasis in the shoulders and arms.
  2. It also works well for pain in the Stomach and uterus.
  3. Its actions resemble those of Tub. Curcumae Yu Jin and Rz. Curcumae E Zhu.
  4. It increases bile secretion.
  5. Painful swellings from trauma also respond well to it.
  6. Jiang Huang and Rz. Curcumae E Zhu share a warm, acrid and bitter nature, and each breaks up Blood Stasis and moves Qi to relieve pain. E Zhu is stronger at breaking up Blood Stasis and reducing accumulations, whereas Jiang Huang acts on both the Interior and Exterior to treat Wind Bi.
  7. Jiang Huang and Rx. Curcumae Yu Jin each promote the movement of Qi and Blood and help the Gallbladder clear jaundice. Yu Jin has the stronger effect here. Jiang Huang is warm instead of cold and treats Wind Bi, something Yu Jin does not do. Yu Jin enters the Blood Level, where it cools Heat and breaks up Blood Stasis while also promoting the flow of Qi at that level. It further clears Heat and relieves constraint, actions that Jiang Huang lacks.
