Notes

  1. It consists of human hair processed with refined coal and ground to a powder.
  2. It is regarded as both an astringent hemostatic and a Blood-activating hemostatic.
  3. Blown into the nose, it stops nosebleed immediately.
  4. It treats foul-smelling Blood in the stool caused by necrosis of the bowel.
  5. Amenorrhea and late periods are also treated with it.
  6. For bleeding gums, it can be applied topically.
  7. Xue Yu Tan and Rx. Notoginseng San Qi both stop bleeding, reduce Blood Stasis and treat every type of bleeding. San Qi is stronger at stopping bleeding, reducing swelling and relieving pain. Xue Yu Tan stops bleeding less effectively but can promote urination, generate flesh and help sores heal.
