Notes

  1. The herb can be taken by itself as a juice, or blended with Ginger juice to temper its Cold nature.
  2. Kept in sealed containers, this substance can be stored for extended periods.
  3. Certain sources state that it clears Phlegm from the Heart and the brain.
  4. For infantile convulsions with upturned eyes and foaming at the mouth, give 3 to 6g twice a day.
  5. Epilepsy (closed disorder) arising from Phlegm calls for combining it with herbs that clear Heat and restore consciousness.
  6. The herb sets Phlegm in motion: Phlegm at the vertex is guided downward, Phlegm in the chest and diaphragm is unbound, Phlegm in the four limbs is dispersed, Phlegm in the organs, channels and collaterals is drawn out, and Phlegm lying between the skin and the membranes is mobilized.
  7. It can halt withdrawal mania and seizures.
  8. Zhu Li and Silicea Bambusae Concretio Tian Zhu Huang share similar functions. Zhu Li acts faster, goes straight into the channels and collaterals, is colder and more slippery, and concentrates on dislodging Phlegm and keeping the Orifices open. Tian Zhu Huang works more slowly, calms the Spirit and settles palpitations and anxiety.
