Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Qi Door is used for opening, letting energy pass. Unless energy passes through Qi Door, no Qi will be present. It is for the person who rejects sympathy or anything being offered. Heavenly Qi and breath must pass this door on the way to the Lung, and it can restore the free passage of trust as well as of digestion. Doors let energy in, and gates swing both ways: this point helps someone who can't be nurtured to receive and to be mothered.

Worsley

Location: At the lower edge of the clavicle, on the paramedian nipple line, 4 ACI from the midline.
Needle depth: 3 fen
Moxa: 5 cones

When to Consider
  • When energy needs opening so it can flow through
  • When a person rejects sympathy or anything being offered
  • When, after some initial treatment, a person still seems blocked from giving and receiving energy and empathy
  • When someone believes that giving depletes them, or always questions the sincerity of others
  • When an offering is refused, especially one made in an Earth way
  • When newness and freshness are needed: open the door so something can come in
  • When treatment isn't working or is having little effect
  • When the person can't take in what is offered because of psychological suffocation, psychic trauma, or severe or chronic stress
Notes
  • If energy is not flowing here there will be no Qi available for transformation. Once Entry-Exit blocks are cleared, digestive disorder is often one of the first signs that this door is closed
