Notes

  1. Since this herb does not tonify, it should be paired with tonics when used.
  2. On its own, it can treat spermatorrhea or nocturnal emissions.
  3. Jin Ying Zi and Fr. Corni Shan Zhu Yu are both sour and astringent; they conserve, hold in and stabilize the Lower Jiao to treat deficient leakage with spermatorrhea, incontinence and watery vaginal discharge. Shan Zhu Yu strongly tonifies both Jing and Yang Qi, while also retaining the Jing, stopping sweating, supporting collapse and gently stabilizing menstrual bleeding. Jin Ying Zi stabilizes without tonifying, yet it can treat chronic diarrhea, which Shan Zhu Yu cannot.
  4. Honey-prepared Cherokee Rosehip Mi Zhi Jin Ying Zi is sweet as well as astringent; it tonifies the Middle, astringes the Intestines and treats Spleen Deficiency causing chronic diarrhea or dysenteric disorders.
  5. Salt-prepared Cherokee Rosehip Yan Jin Ying Zi enters the Kidney channel more strongly to astringe Jing and urine and to stop vaginal discharge.
