Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Middle of the Spine is halfway up the spine and works more on the mental level. Level with the back point of the Spleen, it supports the Earth Officials in mind and spirit when thoughts can't move on, and it can hold up the spirit through dullness and low spirits.

Worsley

Location: On the back midline, in the dip between the T11 and T12 spinous processes.
Needle depth: 3 fen
Moxa: No moxa

When to Consider
  • When there is worry, with thoughts stuck on a single topic and no ability to digest and assimilate ideas
  • When there is depression, or dullness and low spirits
  • When someone describes their back as feeling 'like it is breaking in two'
Notes
  • Moxa is generally forbidden here; it can leave a person severely depressed and forgetful
