Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Outer Shoulder Shu brings pliability to rigid muscles. It is a link with the Heavens. It helps where the patient is completely obstructed and can't see what is right and what is wrong for them, and where stiffness and inflexibility show in the mind as well as the body.

Worsley

Location: 3½ ACI out to the side of the tip of the T1 spinous process, on the upper back.
Needle depth: 6 fen
Moxa: 3-10 cones

When to Consider
  • When the patient is completely obstructed and can't see what is right and what is wrong for them
  • When there is rigidity and inflexibility at the level of the mind
  • When the mind is bogged down, murky or congealed, light is not getting through the darkness and only negativity can be seen
  • When the Heart is shared through sarcasm
