Five Elements Spirit Perspective
| Spirit of the Point | Kunlun Mountain is a very spiritual and amazing place, often referred to as a grand, important place. A mountain is the home of the gods, and these mountains on the Chinese border, around a vermilion lake and believed to be where the Yellow River rises, were said to grant immortality to those who climbed them. As the Fire point, it is excellent for warming up the Bladder when it is cold, when water is frozen in fright or fear; it cracks the ice at every level and starts things moving, and like Water, Fire can be very purifying. Water has to be warm enough to move, spread and flow freely. Frozen or cold, it leaves life without joy or warmth; someone so frozen with fear can have no joy, laughter or fun, and laughter is like sunshine that clears the spirit. This point is a wall of ice melting. The old teaching speaks of the spirit of life embodied in Water: here we touch the person's spirit, connecting Water with essence and with Fire in an alchemical transformation. |

| Worsley | This sacred Taoist paradise calls us inward to discover the paradise that rests there, longing to welcome us. Chinese legend places the Jade Palace of the Yellow Emperor, mythical creator of Chinese culture, in the Kunlun range, along with the dwelling of the Queen Mother of the West, the spirit mother nestled within the mountains. Here we drink from the never-ending reservoir of the Tao's three jewels, compassion, moderation and humility, which strengthen our relationship with the cosmos and fill us with the warm, radiant glow of the divine.
Location: Over the peroneal artery, halfway from the most prominent part of the outer ankle bone (lateral malleolus) to the Achilles tendon. |
