Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Earth Causative Factors (CFs) hold all their issues and turmoil in their stomachs, with a sense of stuckness, and an abdomen knot can occur, a tightening up. This point helps move it. People have a worry or grievance of some kind that is sitting there, on the mental and spiritual level. It is a powerful point for tension and lack of flow. It helps untie the knot in mind and spirit and frees the person, as if taking them out of a mental and physical prison. Very few people who describe a knot in the stomach are knotted up physically; look to see whether they are knotted mentally or spiritually, with some unresolved problem lying there twisting their gut. Anger can show as 'venting your spleen': anger does not come only from Wood.

Worsley

Location: On the abdomen, 4 ACI from the midline and 1 ACI below the umbilicus level, beside REN-7.

Moxa: 5-15 cones

When to Consider
  • When the person has a worry or grievance of some kind sitting in the belly
  • When issues and turmoil are held in the stomach and it tightens up into a knot
  • When there is tension and lack of flow
  • When someone is tying themselves up in knots, with anxiety and mental torment
  • When there is a susceptibility to fright and sorrow
  • When there is tightness, a knot or pain in the stomach with no physical cause, some trouble lying there twisting the gut, often an unresolved shock or something not yet dealt with
  • After shocks that leave the person churning and knotted
  • For anger that arises from the Spleen, when the person needs to vent their spleen
