Notes

Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Border Gate lies level with the stomach's lower gate, where food passes on to the intestines. Like any gate it marks a boundary or transition and must open and close flexibly, neither too active nor stuck, so that Qi and nourishment keep to their path and borders and boundaries can be negotiated. It widens the harvest or a boundary, opening new possibilities and alternatives.

Worsley

Location: On the abdomen, 3 ACI from the midline and 3 ACI above the umbilicus level, beside REN-11.
Needle depth: 8 fen
Moxa: 5-15 cones

When to Consider
  • When a person struggles to negotiate borders, boundaries and transitions
  • When the person chews something over and over without seeing other possibilities; it helps them digest a new point of view and gather a harvest from another perspective
Notes
  • A mental point whose characters speak of fortifying and closing the stomach's lower gate
