Notes

  1. For eye problems, this herb can be used as an external wash.
  2. It can be given by injection as a substitute for antibiotics.
  3. In the central coastal areas of China, it is used to stop vaginal bleeding.
  4. For night sweats, green Mulberry second-growth leaves that are dried, powdered, mixed with thin rice water and taken on an empty Stomach are exceptional.
  5. For Wind Bi, second-growth leaves gathered after the frost, boiled into a soup and used as a wash for the hands and feet are especially effective.
  6. Decocting the juice and drinking it as a tea can stop wasting and thirsting.
  7. Sang Ye and Ram. Mori Sang Zhi both come from the mulberry. Sang Ye is best at dispelling Wind from the exterior, with a focus on the head and face, whereas Sang Zhi cools Heat, expels Wind, opens the collaterals and relieves pain. Sang Zhi tends to travel to the limbs and is ideal for cooling wind-Heat in the joints.
  8. Honey-prepared Mulberry Leaves Mi Zhi Sang Ye keep their ability to dredge wind and clear Heat, and their moistening action is strengthened so that they moisten Dryness and nourish the Lungs in treating Warm-Dryness Attacking the Lungs.

From Class

  • Heat-clearing yet moistening herbs: Ju Hua, Sang Ye, Bo He, Sheng Di, Zhi Mu, Lu Gen: Heat-clearing yet moistening herbs reverse the heat→dryness→phlegm→wind progression in neurology; Ju Hua and Sang Ye also clear external wind and go to the eyes. (Shea)
