Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

When things are stuck, the stone may have to be set aside so a barrier can be crossed. It is a point of change. Like the ducts on the Conception Vessel, this gate is opened when nothing flows, to let the water through. The border also holds the water in its place.

Worsley

Gives structure, definition and clarity. Like an ancient stone wall met on a country walk, with its timeless beauty, durability and strength naturally guiding our steps, it coordinates the movement of our actions, thoughts, feelings and experiences, so that we feel absolutely connected to a larger purpose.

Location: 1½ ACI from the abdominal midline and 3 ACI above the umbilicus level, beside REN-11.
Needle depth: 7-10 fen
Moxa: 7 cones

When to Consider
  • When fear has turned the person to stone and they cannot take in anything new
  • When they just babble and jitter
  • When things are stuck and a barrier must be crossed
  • When the mind and spirit are wary of change
  • When the person is waterlogged in body, mind or spirit
Notes
  • Meeting point of the Chong Mai with the Kidney meridian

From Class

  • KI-18 Shiguan (Stone Gate): Confronts hardened places — rigidity, defended identity, stubbornness; softens barriers, regulates qi and invigorates blood to reopen passages toward spirit. (Lewis)
