Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Four Full, or Fourfold Fullness, refers to fullness from four kinds of accumulation: Blood, Qi, food and Water. Where the Kidney meridian meets the Chong Mai, it draws on that vessel's penetrating quality to clear stagnation and distention. The same stagnation can arise in mind and spirit, leaving a person mentally waterlogged, or the spirit of the Kidney may be parched like a dried-up river. This point starts things moving again.

Worsley

Gives our existence definition, equilibrium and perspective.

Location: 1½ ACI from the abdominal midline and 2 ACI below the umbilicus level, beside REN-5.
Needle depth: 7-10 fen
Moxa: 5-30 cones

When to Consider
  • When a person feels mentally waterlogged and cannot concentrate or remember
  • When the flow of thought is lacking and reasoning cannot be followed through to a conclusion
  • When depletion has dried the Kidney spirit like a riverbed, leaving the person without the wherewithal to try anything
  • When stagnation and distention are present throughout body, mind and spirit
Notes
  • Meeting point of the Chong Mai with the Kidney meridian
