SP-19 Xiongxiang - Chest Region

Also Known As: Chest Home

Location

  • In the 3rd intercostal space, 6 cun lateral to the mid-sternal line.

Needling

  • Slanted insertion, 0.5-0.8 cun.
  • Caution: Avoid deep insertion. Perpendicular insertion carries a substantial risk of pneumothorax.
  • Transverse-oblique insertion along the intercostal space, 0.5-1 cun.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.

  • Regulates Qi

  • Unbinds the chest

Indications

  • Intercostal neuralgia
  • Inability to turn over when lying down
  • Coughing
  • Fullness in the chest and lateral costal region, extending to the back
  • Shortness of breath
  • Breast abscess
  • Insufficient lactation
