Herb & Acupuncture Database

(This is my own personal database of teachers, teachings and notes that I use in my practice. I’ve decided to share it freely with anyone who would like to reference it.)

Conditions, herb formulas, individual herbs (pinyin and Latin), acupuncture points and essential oils: search by name, Chinese, Latin, English, point code or symptom.

Large Intestine Channel (LI)

Circuit: Earth 地 – LU → LI → ST → SP

Organs connected: LI, LU

Pathway

  1. Starts at the tip of the index finger and rises along its radial side, passing between the thumb and index finger.
  2. Goes through the hollow between the thumb tendons, then up the lateral forearm to the lateral side of the elbow.
  3. Ascends along the anterior border of the upper arm (crossing: SI-12, DU-14)
  4. to the highest point of the shoulder.
  5. At the top of the shoulder it splits into two branches.
  6. The first branch goes inside the body and passes through the LU,
  7. the diaphragm, and the LI, its own organ.
  8. The second branch climbs externally up the neck,
  9. crosses the cheek and goes internally into the lower teeth and gum (crossing: ST-4).
  10. Back on the surface, it curves around the upper lip and crosses to the opposite side of the nose (crossing: DU-26).

Crossing Points

SI-12, DU-14, ST-4, DU-26

Large Intestine Luo

Luo point: LI-6

Pathway

  1. Starts at LI-6.
  2. Joins its interior-exterior partner, the LU channel, 3 cun above the wrist.
  3. Rises up the arm through LI-15 to the jaw and cheek, where it splits: one branch links with the teeth, the other enters the ear to join the Zong mai (the gathering place of the LI, ST, SI, GB and SJ channels at the ear).
