Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Qi Cottage is for a mind that has gone barren, with poverty felt all around; it gives security and a sense of comfortable ease. Here the inhaled Qi gathers, and the point holds the nourishment of the Bright Yang, strengthening body, mind and spirit when Earth is undernourished. In the picture of the chest as a house, this point is the dwelling itself. It offers secure comfort for body, mind and spirit, like grandma's house or Mom's hot tea: someone is waiting to take care of you and there will be a meal ready. Open the Qi Door and step into the Qi Cottage to enrich a barren spirit or barren earth. It is not a main residence but a temporary getaway that gives the person a break.

Worsley

Location: Above the clavicle, in the gap between the two heads of sternocleidomastoid, 2 ACI from the midline.
Needle depth: 3 fen
Moxa: 3 cones

When to Consider
  • When someone's mind has gone barren and poverty seems to surround them
  • When a person needs security and a sense of comfortable ease
  • When Earth is undernourished and depleted, with anxiety and weakness
  • When a person is completely distraught at losing their safety and security
Notes
  • In the picture of the chest as a house, this point is the dwelling, and the other chest points are its door, storeroom, roof and window

From Class

  • Sun Simiao combination: SJ-13, LU-3, ST-11: Sun Simiao's goiter combination opens the clavicle area from inside (ST-11 below the clavicle); LU-3 is a Window of Sky point. (Rabinowitz)
