Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

This point sits where the jaw bulges when we clench it in rage or tension, or hold back what we want to say. When the free flow of Qi that Wood depends on is blocked, frustration warps judgment and can burst out as impatience and anger. The point frees the Qi.

Worsley

Location: On the temple, ½ ACI inside the natural hairline and 1 ACI below ST-8.
Needle depth: 2 fen
Moxa: 3 cones

When to Consider
  • When frustration is distorting judgment
  • When a person clenches their jaw with rage or tension, or does not speak out
  • When there are outbursts of impatience and anger
  • When someone is weighed down by the responsibility of deciding or planning
Notes
  • Also said to settle fright
  • Eases mental tension that comes from the Gallbladder Official
