Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

The pillow bone is the occipital bone, and jade, precious to the Chinese, points to the value of the head, home of the brain and many of the senses. Jade Pillow brings vitality and strength to the senses and the brain and helps push through mental congestion. When a person has retreated from the world through fear or overwhelm, or feels their senses fading with age or exhaustion, it can lift the spirit by reviving them.

Worsley

A precious gift from Heaven that offers us an inner place of rest, support and contemplation.

Location: 1.3 ACI from the midline of the head, on the occipital bone, level with DU-17.
Needle depth: 3 fen
Moxa: 3-5 cones

When to Consider
  • When a person has withdrawn from the world through fear or feeling overwhelmed
  • When the senses feel dulled by age, exhaustion or depleted Bladder Qi
  • When there is mental congestion or weakness
  • When mental functioning needs reviving and the spirit needs lifting
