Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Transverse Bone lies at the pubic bone, where the Kidney meridian meets the Chong Mai, the sea of the twelve meridians. This meeting makes it a richly nourishing and stabilizing point. When long deficiency has left the spirit of the Kidney parched and stretched thin, it restores, soothes the fears that arise from depletion and steadies moods and cycles.

Worsley

Underpins the progression of our destiny.

Location: 1½ ACI from the abdominal midline, level with the upper border of the pubic symphysis, i.e. 5 ACI below the umbilicus level.
Needle depth: Do not needle
Moxa: 5-15 cones

When to Consider
  • When long-term depletion has left the Kidney spirit parched and thinly stretched
  • When there is mental feebleness or phobia
  • When fears arise from depletion and a weak constitution
  • When exhaustion and sluggishness call for rich nourishment
  • When moods and cycles need stabilizing
Notes
  • Meeting point of the Chong Mai with the Kidney meridian
  • For difficulty conceiving, moxa (no needle) three or four days before trying; it adds warmth and receptivity

From Class

  • ST-30 Qichong: Point where the postnatal Chong qi emerges to meet and 'control' the Kidney meridian. (Yuen)
  • KI-11 / KI-16 / KI-21: Borders along the rectus abdominis by the Chong; same dilate-expand-descend format; be mindful near the pubic bone (KI-11) for patient comfort. (Yuen)
  • KI-11 Henggu: Pubic-bone point where Chong joins the Kidney channel (start of the Chong pathway along the Kidney line). (Yuen)
  • KI-11 Henggu (Curved Bone): Where the Kidney channel emerges with Chong in the pelvis; creative potential first takes form; the pelvic bowl collects undigested material. (Lewis)
  • KI-11 to KI-16 (first five units of Chong on the belly): Reflect on emotional imprints — unresolved shame, guilt, fear and grief that consumed jing and recur as pathology — bringing them into the Shen's light. (Lewis)
  • Ren-2 to Ren-7 (uterus/gonads); KI-11 Henggu (ovaries); KI-21: Ren-2–7 strongly associated with the uterus/gonads; KI-11 at the pubic bone important for ovarian function; Chong ends near KI-21 at the level of the Gao. (Rabinowitz)
  • Chong Mai (sea of blood): For low red-blood-cell counts, palpate the Chong along the rectus abdominis (KI-11 to KI-21), find the weak point and apply moxa. (Yuen)
  • Chong Mai trajectory (ST-30 → KI-11 → KI-21): Chong qi emerges at ST-30 and follows the Kidney channel from KI-11 to KI-21, showing Earth controlling the Kidney. (Yuen)
