Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Crooked Bone, named for its location, is where the Liver meridian crosses the Conception Vessel and brings the beginnings of Wood to it. It gets all the energy moving. It can do all that Meeting of Yin can do except resuscitation, with the same implications but a lesser effect. It roots Wood that has become exhausted and fearful, or that is raging upward, and can reawaken hope. It stabilizes, holds, sinks and absorbs, like an eagle taking off: a balance of weight and substance against lift and flight. It gives the density bones give the body, gravity, a seat, a foundation that fills the pelvic bowl, so a person can lift themselves with power underneath and soar.

Worsley

Location: On the front midline just above the upper border of the pubic symphysis; this is 5 ACI below the umbilicus.
Needle depth: 5 fen
Moxa: 7 cones

When to Consider
  • When the energy needs to get moving, for example with sexual problems
  • When someone's life is very stuck and they can't break through their inertia to make a new start
  • When the Hun is unrooted, with wild dreams, no vision and no hope or plans
  • When Wood has become exhausted and fearful, or is surging and raging upward
  • When REN-1 can't be used, for example when treating sexual trauma
Notes
  • Use less frequently
  • Crossing point of the Liver and the Conception Vessel
  • Can help re-establish the Conception Vessel after REN-1
  • Encourages elimination
