Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

This point reaches the vitals of body, mind and spirit, almost like an Associated Effect Point for the Water. It lies between the burner that nourishes and the eliminating burner. Look at how a Water Causative Factor (CF) is in their center: is vitality needed? Like Rich for the Vitals, it goes to the center of our being and the core of our vitality: the bare essence of us, beyond all we have accumulated. It takes off the adornments so we can see our true selves; in winter every tree looks the same and every garden is equal.

Worsley

Opens a direct, immediate and free channel to the vital essences stored within us, where every aspect of life has its essence compressed into a seed of possibility. Since this phenomenal concentration of all possibilities lies dormant within us until it is accessed, we hold the full potential to realize any aspect of life, and we can rest peacefully in knowing that all is possible without struggle.

When to Consider
  • For an overall turmoil and depletion in the whole system
  • When a person is stuck, does not want to receive new ideas, is anxious and obsessive, without enough fluidity
  • When a Water CF needs vitality in their center
  • When the Kidney and Heart are out of harmony and the person needs calming and control restored
Combinations
  • KI-15 Middle Flowing Out with KI-16: KI-16 starts the central flow and KI-15 controls it
Notes
  • Meeting point of the Chong Mai with the Kidney meridian

From Class

  • BL-43 Gaohuangshu / KI-16 Huangshu / BL-53 Baohuang: Gao Huang points (by name) to control spread from the jing level to blood and lymph — metastasis. (Yuen)
  • KI-3 + KI-24 / KI-16: KI-3 grounds; KI-24 'soul burial ground' awakens soul and potency in the upper jiao; KI-16 treats second/third chakra repression and opens the heart.
  • KI-11 / KI-16 / KI-21: Borders along the rectus abdominis by the Chong; same dilate-expand-descend format; be mindful near the pubic bone (KI-11) for patient comfort. (Yuen)
  • KI-11 to KI-16 (first five units of Chong on the belly): Reflect on emotional imprints — unresolved shame, guilt, fear and grief that consumed jing and recur as pathology — bringing them into the Shen's light. (Lewis)
  • KI-16 Huangshu (Vital Shu): Linked to the celestial axis and first Big Dipper star; meeting of elimination and nourishment, heaven and earth — the still point of transformation. (Lewis)

  • Ren-8, KI-16, ST-25, GB-26 (belt — first star of the Big Dipper): In Seven Star/Nine Peaks symbolism these Dai-level waist points are the Big Dipper's first star, starting the journey to the North Star of true nature. (Lewis)
