Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Yin receives, is yielding and accepting. This point helps Water Causative Factors (CFs) to accept and digest. It returns them to the center, a warm and quiet place.

Worsley

At the center of the capital city stands the Emperor's Palace, amid flourishing markets teeming with art, crafts, books and all things of beauty and knowledge; deep within its protective walls and lush gardens the Imperial Palace quietly shines with divine inspiration, and the Emperor, though aware of the complexities of ordinary life in the busy capital, remains detached from them and connected only to the divine source. This elegant, divinely inspired place quietly assures us that a stable, well-secured means of joy and contented living dwells within us.

Location: 1½ ACI from the abdominal midline and 4 ACI above the umbilicus level, beside REN-12.
Needle depth: 7-10 fen
Moxa: 7-10 cones

When to Consider
  • For Water CFs who are very tense: overflowing, cannot be contained, bubbling, babbling
  • When they need to be kept under control with a quiet firmness
  • When a Water CF needs help to accept and digest
  • For scattered thinking and loss of will
  • For a person frozen by fear, unyielding and unable to move beyond it; this is different from stubbornness
Notes
  • Meeting point of the Chong Mai with the Kidney meridian
  • It lies just beside REN-12, the Stomach's Alarm point, where Earth's Qi is said to collect; hence Yin Metropolis, an important gathering place on a Yin channel

From Class

  • KI-19 Yindu & KI-13 Qixue (key Chong points): Traditionally only KI-19 was believed to really affect the Chong; below the navel KI-13 was the major point. (Yuen)
  • KI-19 Yindu (Yin Metropolis): Where the noise, striving and distraction of life gather and exhaust deeper reserves; lets the scattered mind settle. (Lewis)
  • 'Happy baby' protocol: PC-6 + KI-9 (also SP-4 right, KI-19): Needle PC-6 and KI-9 (Yin Wei) at end of month 3/start of month 4 and months 7–8 for a good-hearted child; with Chong pulse add SP-4, KI-19. (Lewis)
  • Kidney qi: KI-12 to KI-14, KI-19, KI-27, Ren-4, Ren-6, Du points: Tonify kidney qi in cancer via Chong/Ren points KI-13, KI-14, KI-19, KI-27, Ren-4, Ren-6; enzyme protocols (Gerson, Kelley) fail when kidneys are weak. (Yuen)
  • Metropolis (du) points: SP-2, KI-19, LV-6: For those who feel unredeemable: SP-2 Dadu lifts yang from 'hell'; KI-19 Yindu regulates Chong and Ren; LV-6 Zhongdu analgesic, for heavy bleeding. (Yuen)
