Possession

Five Elements Perspective

  • Possession: A person may feel, or seem, as though something has taken them over. They may look out of vacant eyes with 'no one at home', say they are not themselves, behave in ways that make no sense, or simply fail to respond to treatment that should be working. Mental-level imbalance can look so strange that you might think the person is possessed. In the Worsley tradition possession is cleared before any other treatment, with the Seven Dragons: the Internal Dragons when the possession has arisen from within, and the External Dragons when it has come from outside. Points: ST-25, ST-32, ST-41, DU-20, UB-11, UB-23, UB-61
  • Internal possession: The possession arises from within, often from overwhelming emotion, trauma or long-held inner turmoil that has taken the person over. It is treated with the Seven Internal Dragons: a point just below the tip of the sternum (the Master point), then ST-25, ST-32 and ST-41 on both sides. When it releases, you may feel it go from head to toe, a sense of movement through the whole meridian. Points: ST-25, ST-32, ST-41
  • External possession: The possession comes from outside the person. It is treated with the Seven External Dragons: DU-20, then UB-11, UB-23 and UB-61 on both sides. UB-61 Servant's Aide also helps with sciatica and back pain. Points: DU-20, UB-11, UB-23, UB-61
  • Earthly spirits and after a possession treatment: The classical texts describe earthly spirits that have not yet moved on toward heaven and can become malevolent; a patient troubled by them may feel possessed. PC-5 The Intermediary, one of the classical Ghost points, is very calming; it settles and cleanses a possessed spirit and turns chaos into peace, easing fears, panics, phobias and terrors; it can be used after possession treatments. HT-7 Spirit Gate is also used after a possession treatment, to bring the person back into who they are as a spirit. Do not use KI-23 Spirit Seal straight after a possession treatment; it would be far too soon. Points: PC-5, HT-7, KI-23

From Class

  • 13 Ghost Points as four trinities (at/after death): Four trinities moxa'd or touched after death to free what is bound: Du-20, LU-11, SP-1; PC-7, BL-62, Du-16; ST-6, Ren-24, PC-8; Du-23, Ren-1, LI-11; plus Yintang. (Lewis)
  • Body and spirit interact: Herbs and acupuncture resolve phlegm, move blood, drain aggressive energy and clear possession, lightening the load, yet consciousness can awaken regardless of the body.
  • Clearing treatments for repression: Possession treatment, draining Aggressive Energy, Akabane testing, xi-cleft points or tonifying yin/yang, chosen by the nature of repression; acupuncture disinhibits the liver.
  • Gu syndrome — symptoms: Digestive Gu (alternating bowels, bloating, cravings) and brain Gu (wandering pain, depression, insomnia, hallucinations, feeling 'possessed'), with progressive exhaustion and sublingual vein stagnation. (Fruehauf)
  • Po and hauntings: Unresolved guilt and attachment bind the Po to the earth at the site of death; bring awareness to what they carry and release what isn't ours. (Lewis)
