Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Released Stream is a very strong point, and you feel it release any blocks from head to toe, a sense of movement through the whole meridian. It breaks a lot of blocks on the Stomach meridian and sends the Qi flowing out to the meridian's ends, the head and the feet, and it brings warmth to the earth. As the Fire point it feeds Earth and can remind a person bogged down in work of the joy and excitement in life. It lights a spark of joy in the harvest, like sunlight on the earth; without bounty, life goes flat and disengaged. The plate is full, so draw its spirit out, savor the abundance, play in the sunshine and come out of self-absorption. It concerns engagement and the mother and child connection. It brings a sudden letting go when things are stuck fast, hard, cold and inert like rock or mud: warmth's power releases and carries the stagnation away, and the stream's energy has to reach the mind as well as the feet.

Worsley

Location: At the middle of the front ankle crease, between the extensor hallucis longus and extensor digitorum longus tendons.
Needle depth: 5 fen
Moxa: 3-7 cones

When to Consider
  • When someone keeps going over the same vicious cycle again and again and needs to get some space from the energy and move
  • When there are blocks along the meridian that need releasing
  • When Earth needs warmth
  • When life has ground Earth down and a sense of joy needs restoring
  • When there is mental knottedness
  • When a person has collapsed inward and needs to re-engage with the outer world
  • When the plate is full but the person gets nothing from it; it ignites the appetite
  • When sadness or absence of joy has left the person feeling moldy or damp
  • For people who walk around talking nonsense
Notes
  • Fire point, River point and Tonification point of the Stomach
  • Among the points for releasing the Seven Internal Dragons
