Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

A gate gives access and also guards. On the spirit level this point is about receiving what we hear so that it nourishes us: adjusting to how something is said, sensing the intention behind the words, and knowing when to protect ourselves. It also concerns listening to our own inner voice. The isolation of the person who cannot hear, who feels left out and misses the joke, echoes the person who feels cut off in spirit and cannot hear words of friendship or warmth.

Worsley

Heralds the truth. This gateway lets us really listen to the music of our own hearts and the hearts of others, and hear love's ultimate call, which unites us all.

Location: In front of the upper edge of the tragus, in the hollow that forms when the mouth opens.
Needle depth: 3 fen
Moxa: 3-7 cones

When to Consider
  • When a person cannot 'hear' and receive
  • When someone feels cut off in spirit and can no longer take in friendly or warm words, or the voice of their own spirit
  • When the Heart feels frozen or depression is so deep that everything sounds like a harsh drone
  • When isolation has led to paranoia or self-loathing
