Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Shu means a bundle, and also to bind, tie or restrain, and Gu means bone. Water rules the bones, and as the Wood point in Water, with Wood's growth, Bone Binder is often used to help the bones heal. On the mental level it helps when there is drive without vision, because no Wood is there to give the person their vision.

Worsley

Gives us core strength, the secure, reliable and unshakable presence we need within. However much we may crumble, break, quiver or collapse, this magnificent potential for healing lies within us.

  • Worsley's First Aid uses for this point also include urine retention, sunburn, scalds, poison, insect bites, food poisoning, cystitis and burns.

Location: On the outer edge of the foot, immediately proximal to the 5th metatarsal head.
Needle depth: 3 fen
Moxa: 3-5 cones

When to Consider
  • When there is drive without vision
  • For a Water Causative Factor (CF) who is broken for some reason on a different level
  • When a person lacks faith in what lies ahead: "I need faith in the future"
  • When despair and loss of faith have overwhelmed the Bladder Official and there is no hope
  • When there is inactivity and stagnation
  • For breaks and traumas that are not physical: breaks in the spirit
Notes
  • Wood point and Sedation point
  • A first aid point for fractures; it may help bones heal faster
  • Bones hold up the structure and integrity of body, mind and spirit; bringing Wood's qualities to Water, this point helps a person follow through with plans
