Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Yin, sinking: Heavenly energy, a soft mound. It brings concentration, firmness and stillness. Climb up the mound and see the vistas and the treasures within this mound of the heart. When you need to climb the mound and see everything from its top, lifting the Supreme Controller up out of the depths, the Official's words will be, "I need to see."

Worsley

Location: On the front of the forearm, over the ulnar artery, ½ ACI above HT-7, in the furrow where the artery runs between the tendons of flexor digitorum superficialis and flexor carpi ulnaris.
Needle depth: 3 fen
Moxa: 3-7 cones

When to Consider
  • When the Heart is out and moving and can't settle down; this helps it settle
  • When the Supreme Controller is uncertain and confused, and the Officials are not cooperating or coordinating; take the person up onto the mound's summit so they can see its riches and nourishment
  • For heart disturbance of long standing, where the person is restless and running on empty
  • Less for physical problems than for a wobble within themselves
  • When a person wakes in the night after falling asleep and needs peace and quiet, lifted above the situation
  • When shock, alarm, fear and anxiety have shaken the Heart
Notes
  • Xi Cleft point
  • Strongly influences the mental state, revitalizes Qi and has a calming effect
  • Good with moxa, and can give a big change in the pulses
  • A mound is a store, though less is available there than in a mountain
  • A place to draw on Yin energies as support and reserve
