Five Elements Spirit Perspective
| Spirit of the Point | Among the most powerful mental points for bringing serenity and peace to a troubled heart, mind and soul. It fortifies, stabilizes, nourishes and calms; it is a reserve for people who have had enough. It strengthens the mind and gives courage to it, and when spirit Qi falls short, this point brings back your smile. It works on the spirit of the Heart itself. The gate may be too wide open, letting Qi scatter, or closed too tight, so the person cannot receive the flow of Qi. It brings energy to the struggle, steadying and warming the mind and then returning that warmth to the Heart. As the 'Accumulation Gate', it is a small crack that gives access to the vitality of the meridian's Qi, a cave of beneficial influences. It supports the energy of the elite guards who protect the king with their special training and way of life; a deficiency here can lead to breakdown. It calls up reinforcements, like the Three Musketeers. |
|---|---|
| Worsley | A huge reservoir of energy, the Gate of Chi Reserve strategically opens the way to the unconditional love that is always present within us. Through it we can love and be loved, forgive others and ourselves, and speak with compassion and heartfelt understanding. Location: On the front of the forearm, 5 ACI above PC-7, between the flexor carpi radialis and palmaris longus tendons. |

From Class
- PC-3 Quze: Water point; pulls heat up and out; warm-disease master point for clearing heat from all levels and heat-driven bleeding; mentioned re long COVID. (Gioioso)
- PC-4 Ximen: With PC-3 cools the blood to stop bleeding where blood is pushed upward (coughing/vomiting blood, nosebleeds; e.g. nosebleeds with menses). (Gioioso)
- PC-4 Ximen: Xi-cleft; severe chest pain. (Lewis)
- PC-4 Ximen / PC-2 Tianquan: PC-4 (xi-cleft) for stagnation impeding circulation; PC-2 'celestial spring' invigorates blood; combine with LU-4, SP-10. (Gioioso)
- PC-4 to PC-8 quiet the shen: PC-4, PC-5 chief; PC-6 only gained this attribute in Ming writings (Yin Wei opening point); PC-7 more sensory. (Yuen)
- Blood points: ST-36/9/30 regulate; SP-10/BL-17 invigorate; BL-11, ST-37, ST-39 move; PC-4 dissipate: Ling Shu ch.33 sea of blood points only move blood; tight/wiry pulse = move qi to move blood; choppy pulse = invigorate. (Yuen)
- Xi-cleft points for acute pain at end of life: Start locally with ashi points, find the channel, then use its xi-cleft point for acute pain; non-acupuncturists can anoint these points with the essential oils. (Lewis)
