Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Often translated as Guest House: Zhu is guest and Bin is structure. It welcomes the baby and supports what is going on in fetal development. The Chinese character shows a river whose banks are being built up: Earth not controlling Water. It is a powerful point for unstable Water. So much has to be rebuilt in the foundation. It is very calming. Reinforcing the banks lets things move more smoothly and the water flow more powerfully, bringing support, solidity, strength and stability so that exchange can be even. A guest is there to help: to lend a hand and offer support when you are burnt out.

Worsley

Creates spaces for our life's skeleton.

Location: On the inner lower leg, 6½ ACI above the level of the medial malleolus prominence, straight above KI-7, at the medial edge of the gastrocnemius tendon.
Needle depth: 5 fen
Moxa: 3-7 cones

When to Consider
  • For madness from serious fright, of the trauma kind
  • If someone is in a constant state of madness, like a soldier coming back from war, or in a constant state of nightmare
  • For maddening behavior
  • When Water is unstable, choppy and unable to settle
  • When the person needs help over an obstacle and added weight behind their actions or predicaments
  • For removing poisons and toxins
  • When there is deep anxiety and mental restlessness
  • For someone with too little gathering, whose actions in the world lack power
  • When fluids seem to have no bounds, or distribution is a problem
  • When a person is burnt out and needs a helping hand
Notes
  • Yin Wei Mai Accumulation (Xi Cleft) point
  • Great for pregnancy: treat with needles and moxa during months three, six and nine
  • Acts as a helper or agent for other command points
  • At this point the Kidney channel hosts one of the extraordinary vessels, and is said to have built a dwelling for its guest
