  • This point can be used for any abnormalities of the spine. It will revitalize bones.

Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

A spring represents a place of deep access and movement. Water Spring can refresh body, mind and spirit and bring them new vigor, with the refreshing, cleansing qualities of Water. As the Accumulation point, it gives powerful, general stimulation. Here the water finds its way to a spring, bringing clarity and rebirth and washing impurities away, like a baptism.

Worsley

Facilitates the emergence of our self.

Location: On the inner ankle, at the upper edge of the calcaneus, 1 ACI below KI-4.
Needle depth: 4 fen
Moxa: 5 cones

When to Consider
  • When someone is afraid and having a depression, and fear is holding them back from moving; it gives them a powerful activating impulse
  • For fear and for depression, above all when the two occur together
  • For people who wish to remain where they are: rigidity, agoraphobia
  • For people who have built a prison around themselves; the point works like a sledgehammer that knocks the prison wall down
  • When there is mental stagnation and a lack of perspective
  • For people who are afraid of being exposed: "Something could happen; someone will look at me"
Combinations
  • UB-59 with KI-5: for cleansing
Notes
  • Accumulation (Xi Cleft) point of the Kidney

  • Xi-cleft points for acute pain at end of life: Start locally with ashi points, find the channel, then use its xi-cleft point for acute pain; non-acupuncturists can anoint these points with the essential oils. (Lewis)
