Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Upper Duct is at the upper end of the Stomach, where food does not go down; the person can't 'stomach' their food. It is about how you're taking in what you've been given. It links the middle and upper burners and can smooth and motivate a better processing of body, mind and spirit.

Worsley

Location: On the front midline, 5 ACI above the umbilicus.
Needle depth: 5-8 fen
Moxa: 7-15 cones

When to Consider
  • When the person can't 'stomach' their food, or their life
  • When someone cannot take in what they have been given
  • When thinking is a muddle and repetitive
  • When there is excessive worry and anxiety
Notes
  • Reunion point of the Small Intestine, Lung and Stomach with the Conception Vessel
  • Used often for digestive problems
  • Distributes energy in the chest

From Class

  • Earth School three triangles: Ren-13/PC-6, Ren-12/ST-36, Ren-10/ST-25: Li Dongyuan protocol: ingestion Ren-13 + PC-6 (yin fire), digestion Ren-12 + ST-36, elimination Ren-10 + ST-25; needle on exhale, emphasize lift. (Yuen)
