Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Not commonly used and not very powerful; it is about the quality of growth. As the Metal point it brings the quality and inspiration of Metal to the Gallbladder's growth and decisions, and Metal's drawing back can steady the Gallbladder when decisions are made too quickly, without reflection. It gives richness and quality to growth and decision making. Metal controls Wood, and the resolution of anger often lies in the ability to let go, Metal's virtue.

Worsley

Location: At the nail point on the outer (lateral) side of the 4th toe.
Needle depth: 1 fen
Moxa: 3-5 cones

When to Consider
  • When there is insomnia, dreaming of ghosts or nightmares
  • When movement, speech and thought have become disjointed and abrupt
  • When decisions are made so fast they are not backed by reflection
  • When there is anxiety
  • When the person feels cut down every time they start to act, and timidity and fear stop them; it eases Metal's control over Wood's urge to grow
  • For frightening dreams of ghosts and death, of being chased or cut up
  • When the person keeps making bad choices and poor decisions
  • When growth is like a tree sending branches everywhere but never growing tall; it prunes the extra so the person can focus on one goal rather than many
Combinations
  • GB-11 Head Hole Yin with GB-44: together, one high and one low, to strengthen the spirit of the Official
Notes
  • Metal point and Well point of the Gallbladder
  • Restores vital trace minerals within Wood, like GB-40
  • Metal overwhelming Wood can look like paranoia
  • Hones effort down to defined goals, balances being and doing, and treats too much or too little control
