Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Crooked Marsh is the Water point. Marshes are very fertile, teeming with life, and 'crooked' implies a complexity; it is also in the crook of the elbow. It brings the power of Water into the Heart Protector function: Water controls Fire, balancing hot and cold in our love life. Water's beneficial fertility collects here, with a feeling of rich nourishment. It frees the elbow to move, to reach out and embrace people, and it brings stability.

Worsley

Ensures our innate capacity to live each heartbeat filled with love, enthusiasm and joy. The marsh brings to mind plants and wildlife thriving in mineral-rich soil and the cleansing water of a wetland, and within us is such a place, rich and always available, offering nature's treasures.

Location: On the elbow crease, in the main hollow there, normally lateral to the biceps tendon (in some people the hollow is medial to it instead).
Needle depth: 3 fen
Moxa: 3-5 cones

When to Consider
  • When the person is wide open: it cools them down and puts a little fear in them
  • When they have become a little rigid in the way they deal with the world around them in protecting their Heart
  • For fear of water or of meeting people, and suicidal feelings that are close at hand
  • For dreaming of water, or of fire raging beyond control
  • For a mind out of control
  • For people whose Fire rages beyond control, so no one can get near it
  • For people whose Fire is swamped and depleted and needs stoking up
  • When, in reaction to betrayal, the Heart has become too open and expansive
  • When the Heart has shut down and heat trapped inside it is generating Fire
  • For crying at the least provocation
Notes
  • Water point and Sea point of the Pericardium
  • You can cool Fire, so be careful with it
  • A key point for harmonizing Water and Fire as they relate to the depths of intimacy and the fear of it

From Class

  • PC-3 Quze: Master point for clearing heat in the blood in epidemic (warm disease) traditions; used during COVID. (Gioioso)
  • PC-3 Quze: Water point; pulls heat up and out; warm-disease master point for clearing heat from all levels and heat-driven bleeding; mentioned re long COVID. (Gioioso)
  • PC-3 Quze (water point) for fluid phlegm/edema: For fluid phlegm with edema, use PC-3 (water point) with Spleen points (SP-6, ST-40, SP-3, Ren-4) plus Ren-17 and digestive Pericardium points (PC-7, PC-6). (Yuen)
  • PC-4 Ximen: With PC-3 cools the blood to stop bleeding where blood is pushed upward (coughing/vomiting blood, nosebleeds; e.g. nosebleeds with menses). (Gioioso)
  • Clearing fire toxins: BL-11, SP-10, BL-17, KI-9, PC-3, LI-11: Clear fire toxins with BL-11, SP-10, BL-17; KI-9 prevents maternal toxin transmission; PC-3 clears all three levels; LI-11, SP-10 for autoimmune reactivity. (Lewis)
  • Moxa over uterus/lower Ren and along PC-8 to PC-3: Moxa over the uterus and lower Ren for cramping; moxa along PC-8 to PC-3 brings the Pericardium's effect on menstruation and relationships without needling. (Fuggman)
