Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

This point reaches deep into the person, in body and in mind. You take the patient to bathe in the Gods' own water; whatever is heavenly in Chinese is attached to the Emperor. Its power to cleanse and heal is extraordinary, and it brings Heaven's warmth and joy in to revive the spirit with love and joy. It is a pond, a sacred river, where the spirit's purity can be kept; there the patient bathes in tranquil water that calms, restores and balances the Fire. It links us with something boundless and vast, a majesty of life beyond ordinary understanding. A large expanse of water where the deep forces of life gather, it holds a person's depth and the richness of life, reconnects them with their compassion and renews the quality of love. Like a seed germinating in warm, light-filled water, its heavenly refreshment lifts a person past time and space into a wider relationship with Heaven. As God's own bath, it washes away the impurities and negativity that block joy and love, brings the Heart Protector to life and fills the person with joy, love, compassion and fulfillment that spill over to all the Officials. Picture the world's ultimate hot tub, where you are completely at ease with your true love and come out feeling joyful, satisfied and accepted.

Worsley

Supplies unconditional love and infuses us with qualities that protect us and bring contentment, excitement and joy to our lives; humor, kindness and compassion come from drawing on this reservoir. Before this radiant, vastly positive force, all conflict and negativity melt away, purifying us at our core so our essence can shine.

  • Book marks this point X for women (not to be used on women)

Location: 1 ACI out to the side of the centre of the nipple.
Needle depth: 3 fen
Moxa: 3-5 cones

When to Consider
  • To revive a person's spirit with joy and love
  • To open the person up to see that no one is an island unto themselves
  • To turn the patient back toward the Heavenly Love
  • When the Fire needs to be balanced, restored and calmed
  • When life has lost its shine and the person needs a new perspective
  • When the person cannot feel or receive appropriate affection
  • When a person says they cannot even imagine being happy or in a relationship again
  • For a patient who does not know that greater levels of joy are possible
  • For the effects of past betrayal: it helps the person experience the world as safe again, gives the deepest connection to spiritual levels of intimacy, and can restore the memory of the Heart as a place of complete safety from before life's sorrows weighed it down
  • When someone feels trapped or imprisoned, particularly in a relationship: joyless, dried up, shriveled, burned out or resigned, seeing life as colorless, dull and boring
  • When a person can see joy and quality in others but feels none themselves
  • When someone is in a good relationship but can't feel any sense of renewal
Combinations
  • KI-22 Walking on the Verandah with PC-1: clears a Kidney to Pericardium Entry-Exit block
  • PC-2 Heavenly Spring with PC-1 (on men only): PC-1 brings the patient into contact with themselves, and PC-2 supplies the movement to act on it
Notes
  • Window of the Sky point: use once the person is ready for it
  • Entry point of the Pericardium meridian
  • Kidney to Pericardium (KI-22 to PC-1) Entry-Exit block: extreme shyness, fear of intimacy and hiding behind a wall after being badly hurt
  • Releases a great deal of energy into the meridian
  • Because of its location, not needled on women; PC-2 can be used instead
  • The name refers to the Spirit pooling or gathering in the chest; the Heart and Heart Protector govern the spirit, and Heaven is the spirit's symbolic home
  • A large energy reserve for the Heart Protector
  • A most potent point for the overall spiritual well-being and functioning of the Heart Protector
  • The name can be pictured as a mountain pool whose water runs down to the sea, mirroring how the Qi flows down from PC-1 to PC-9; it is also a star name

From Class

  • HT-3 + PC-1 + KI-9 (+ GB-22 for women): Combination from the father of the attacking and purging school (Zhang Zihe) for phlegm harassing the heart; HT-3 + KI-9 for heart-kidney communication. (Gioioso)
  • Diaphragm entry-exit points: SP-21→HT-1, LV-14→LU-1 (the only one passing qi through the diaphragm), KI-22→PC-1 all pass through the heart region; upper kidney points relate shen and ling (soul).
  • Pericardium divergent: The Pericardium divergent begins at PC-1 Tianchi, descends through the three burners, and a branch ascends to the throat (Ren-23) to join San Jiao at GB-12/SJ-16. (Yuen)
