Notes

  • This is an important point to regulate the functions of the Large Intestine and its applications are broad.
  • As a Back-Shu point of a Yang organ, it is mainly used to regulate. It is a main point for constipation.

Five Elements Spirit Perspective

Spirit of the Point

Large Intestine Correspondence works on the Official who lets us move through life's changes, keeping what was of value and letting go of the rest. When that rhythm of release is lost in our thoughts and feelings, the outlook is poisoned, the spirit gets bogged down, and life looks tarnished and empty. This point helps a person let go of old hurts and open to new experience.

Worsley

Opens to the Large Intestine Official a direct, immediate and free channel to the energy the Bladder Official holds in reserve, and that store underpins the basic workings of the Official of Drainage and Dregs.

  • Worsley gives it as a First Aid point for haemorrhage.

Location: 2½ ACI from the midline of the low back, level with the dip between L4 and L5.
Needle depth: 8-10 fen
Moxa: 7-20 cones

When to Consider
  • When a person finds no value in life and is depressed
  • When someone feels toxic, negative or suspicious
  • When there are problems letting go of the past and its hurts
  • When a person looks to possessions to make up for what is missing in life
Notes
  • Inner Associated Effect Point (AEP) of the Large Intestine
